Welcome page to the Engineering Faculties of Leuven and Louvain

The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Université catholique de Louvain are sister universities teaching respectively in Dutch and in French. They were historically a single institution, the Universitas Catholica Lovaniensis, founded in 1425 and teaching in Latin at the time. Both institutions are strong research universities. KULeuven is located in Leuven, in the Dutch speaking region of Belgium. UCL is now located in Louvain-la-Neuve, in the French speaking reagion of Belgium and in Brussels.

The engineering faculties of these two institutions have decided to work as a single actor on the international scene with the label

EFL2

meaning Engineering Faculties of Leuven and Louvain

  • The Engineering Faculties of Leuven and Louvain are members of CLUSTER as a single entity and have joint representatives in most CLUSTER departments and task forces.
  • The two faculties share the same objectives of excellence and cooperate in research and teaching.
  • Students enlisted in each faculty, either as local students or as exchange students may take courses in the other one as well as locally. Direct trains link the two campuses.
