Students, researchers, architects, entrepreneurs, technical and administrative staff, totalling over 9000 people, interact daily to explore and encourage the emergence of new scientific fields. The EPFL offers 13 complete study courses in Engineering, Basic Sciences and Architecture. As from 2003 it also offers a new courses in Life Sciences, a double master in Management of Technology and a College of Humanities. These structures are backed up by interdisciplinary programmes which encourage research at the interface of traditional disciplines. It is also developing its Doctoral School and many postgraduate programmes are available There has been a spectacular increase in the number of students at the EPFL. Extensive educational reforms are in progress to further mobility in accordance with the Bologna declaration, with the introduction of the Bachelor and Master titles With 101 nationalities represented on its campus and 50% of its teaching staff originating from abroad, mainly Europe and America, the EPFL has a truly international vocation.
